Virtual Rehearsals Via Zoom

Due to the current Covid-19 situation all physical choir rehearsals have had to be suspended and this is set to continue for the foreseeable future. For the Winter season starting in September we are planning virtual rehearsals via Zoom following successful trials over the summer. To assist members get themselves setup with Zoom we hope the following information will help.

Zoom is a video conferencing application and has become the tool of choice for communication during the pandemic. It is supported on all major platforms such as iPhone, iPad, Android smartphones and tablets and MacBook & Windows computers. You simply need to install the Zoom client software on your device and use it to connect to the Zoom meeting that will be supplied. When using a laptop or desktop please ensure it has a webcam and microphone. The user experience varies depending on the device being used e.g. a smartphone or iPhone greatly limits the number of people you can see at anyone time. We would recommend using a Windows laptop, MacBook or iPad.

To assist with learning the works, we recommend using the websites below, which provide backing music for many choral works, and you can select your voice part to be accented. 

John Fletcher Music

The John Fletcher music site allows you to register a free account and access the copyright free content. To access copyright music a subscrition is necessary. You can download your voice part to use locally on a PC or mobile device.

Cyberbass

Cyberbass has an extensive list of copyright-free rehearsal media available, which you stream live from the site. It also allows you to change the speed of the music while you are learning.
