Calling all young singers near Newbury!

Are you a choral singer between the ages of 16-24? Newbury Choral Society is thrilled to announce an exciting new opportunity for young singers to become part of our inaugural cohort of Choral Scholars. We seek to appoint up to four choral scholars for the 2024/5 academic year.

What we offer:

Stipend: £250 per term (£750 per annum) will be awarded to up to four talented young singers to sing with Newbury Choral Society.
Performance Experience: Take a leading role in some of the greatest choral masterpieces, with opportunities for performing in solos and semichoruses.
Leadership Development: Develop ensemble leadership skills through assisting with warmups and sectionals, and receive opportunities to collaborate with other scholars for solo recitals.
Coaching: Receive coaching in solo singing and vocal technique from our Musical Director, Joe Tobin.

What we're looking for:

Age: Singers aged 16-24 with a passion for choral music.
Experience: Prior choral experience and some sight-reading ability preferred, alongside a high level of singing proficiency.
Commitment: Ability to attend 80% of Monday evening rehearsals and all concert performances.
Passion: Most importantly, we seek inspiring young musicians who take pride in their craft and in developing their skills.
