We are a large, non-auditioned choir that has performed a wide and varied repertoire from Mozart to Tavener for over 120 years.  We aspire to a high musical standard and aim to thrill our concert audiences.  Joined by professional musicians such as the renowned chamber orchestra London Concertante and the region's leading orchestra Southern Sinfonia, we perform three concerts a year in the Newbury area.  Our regular venues are St Nicolas Church, Newbury and the beautiful Abbey Church at Douai Abbey, Woolhampton. Audiences respond enthusiastically to an invitation to join in, but have you ever wished that you could be up on the stage singing?  Or are you already a singer and looking for a new opportunity?  We are delighted to announce our next event, 'Come and Sing! Greatest Choral Hits' on Saturday 24 March 2012.  This is a new venture for our Society which we hope will inspire you to come along and sing with us. 

This is your chance to spend the day rehearsing under the guidance of professional conductor Cathal Garvey, accompanied by professional musicians and soloists.  In the evening you will experience the thrill of performing in front of an audience at St Nicolas Church, Newbury.

Our audience can look forward to hearing a large choir performing all their favourite numbers from the great choral works, including choruses from Handel's Messiah and his triumphant Zadok the Priest, Vivaldi's Gloria, music by Haydn, Mozart, Brahms and other great names.
 

To participate in this unique day of music-making all you need to do is complete a registration form, available here, by Friday 17 February.  Alternatively you can email the Society's secretary by clicking here, pick up a form from a choir member or download one by clicking here.  The unbeatable price of £20 includes a bound booklet of all the music we will be singing, plus the priceless memory of a hugely enjoyable day.  Don't be put off if you feel a little rusty or unsure of your ability:  there is no audition and we warmly welcome everyone with enthusiasm for singing.
